Stop Press: Hoard of Saxon Coins found

A metal detector user has found a hoard containing hundreds of Saxon coins. Bert Douch, a retired train driver, unearthed the find while detecting with his friend Phil Collins in a field near Hastings, East Sussex.

Each coin is said to be worth £100-£2000. Estimates of the value of the hoard are said to be in the region of £750,000.

Mr Douch who has been detecting for 15 years said, "It really is very exciting and I can't believe that we came across it."
