CELTIC GOLD BROOCH FOUND

Courtesy of The Searcher Magazine

Metal detectorist Eric Kirman of England recently uncovered a unique find - a GOLD Celtic "Birdlip Type" Beaked brooch, a native British brooch of the early 1st century AD.

It has recently been confirmed that the brooch is unique for a Birdlip type having open work on the catchplate, scrolled engraving along the flank and a triskel engraved on the foot but.... more importantly it is the only solid gold, Iron Age brooch ever recovered in the UK.

It is 5 cm (2" approx.) in height, 13.53 grms in weight, and slightly in excess of 90% pure gold, plus 9% silver and 1% copper.
